Happy Seattle

In the spirit of Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness, Seattle’s launching a happiness initiative.

Take the survey to measure the nine domains of happiness:

  1. Psychological well-being;
  2. Physical health;
  3. Time or work-life balance;
  4. Social connection and community vitality;
  5. Education;
  6. Access to arts, culture and recreation;
  7. Environmental quality and access to nature;
  8. Good governance;
  9. Material well-being.

    Please tell Sarah Palin about this and the Teaparty!!!!
    They want gross national unhappiness:
    -everybody guns
    -as many jails as possible, with as many convicts as possible
    -war with the countries outside the USA
    -only pay taxes to go to war
    -America only for christians (like the prilgrims from the 18th century)
    -Only healthcare for people who can afford it, let the others die, who cares?
    -Let the rich get richer, it is their right. Put the poor ones in jails and projects

    • For the record: not everyone here subscribes to those beliefs, though. I believe the state of the entire world is grim, however, that it’s not isolated just to these borders; everything’s interconnected, and the selfish greed is not an American-only trait. I do agree we in the US have set a scary tone and lead an awful charge.

    I hope Seattle is different than many other places in the states, because to me the USA today is a grim place.
